The piece's title is a reference to the namesake concept, coined by Italian renaissance's scientist/artist Leonardo da Vinci. I came across this concept through a Vilem Flusser's article. He explains how photographic images are good examples of products resulting from the combination of Science and Art. Cameras are devices developed by scientific knowledge and put, among other activities, at the service of art. We could apply the same kind of approach to audio recorders. Composers have been using this technological device guided by their imagination and inventiveness. These new devices are anachronic examples of what Leonardo da Vinci used to refer to "Fantasia Essata." Since I had worked only with pre-recorded (or ready-made) sounds in this piece, I thought the term would fit perfectly.
